Starting A Direct Selling BIZ (Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, etc.)

According to the Direct Selling Association more than 15 million people in the US are operating direct selling businesses. Direct selling is defined as the sale of a consumer product or service, person-to-person, away from a fixed retail location. Examples include Avon, Mary Kay and Pampered Chef.

If you’re thinking a direct selling business might be for you - consider the following…

First
~ ask yourself if the product you will be selling is something you can get excited about – because you can’t sell something to others if you don’t love it yourself!

~Find out
what the costs are for signing - up with the company and the on-going costs of doing business including supplies and sales materials

~Find out
what the average earnings are for consultants - be realistic about how much money you can earn.

~Find out
how much on-going education and support the company provides to help you be successful.

…and do check to see if the company is a member of the Direct Selling Association…. as DSA members pledge to abide by a direct sellers code of ethics.
